I totally agree with your assessment of Hancock. Although the surprise in the last 1/3 of the movie is pretty cool.

I loved the double feature. Even the bit of trivia after. Hadn't done that in 20 years or so...

I will say that Indy was good, but the ambiguity of what they were up to left me cold. No dead set "We are doing this and going after that." Just a meandering sort of "Well, you gotta take this skull that is very magnetic to a fault, but only at certain times, to a lost city that has protective warriors hidden behind some intricate artwork and leaves you wondering, 'were they in there for 500 years?!?' then put said skull back in the city, somewhere." I don't want the story laid out for me at every turn, but I would like a stated goal. Raiders; we are after the Arc. Ok. Goal stated and the journey begins. Last Crusade; Holy Grail, ok, but twist... Dad is coming along for the ride.

(Why the hell they turned Brody into a friggin' moron for the Last Crusade is beyond me. Take a look at the college scene with Brody and Indy and the gov'mnt stooges. Very bright, very focused. Last Crusade made him out to be worse than Inspector Cluso.)

Whew. It was very cloudy and I know that it's a movie and it has to be so simple to appeal to the mass audience, but I would like to see a movie where the hero doesn't have all the answers and can find 1 clue and figure out everything, but rather makes mistakes from time to time and has to live with those mistakes. Oh, wait. Hancock kinda went there...

I agree that the first 2/3rds of the movie was great. I think they went places that action hero movies don't go. (Think Axel Foley and Beverly Hills Cop opening scene with cars being crashed and what not... he jokes about the cost and leaves it at that. Uh, no.)

Even after we find out what Charlize Theron is, and we see the three schmucks in prison make the pact to somehow destroy Hancock, I think it could have kept along the main story line and been a better end scene. I don't buy the Justin Bateman walk-by in the hospital. It feels like that whole scene was slapped together in a haste to put a different ending in. As an added bonus, let's toss two of the three out a window and have the third make a morbid joke before his demise.

I feel that after we see Hancock get shot, it turns. It could have been better. I can live with him ending up where he does... that doesn't bother me.

I really think we should have seen another shot of the AA meeting in prison, where Hancock goes BACK and
shares something meaningful. Like maybe explaining the eagle or maybe where he was when he started drinking heavily...

I'm just sayin'...
